Give Blood, Share Life

Voluntary Blood Donation in Trinidad & Tobago

Every Drop Counts. Every Donor Matters.

Every day in Trinidad & Tobago, blood saves lives — in operating theatres, emergency departments, maternity wards, and cancer clinics. From pregnant mothers facing complications, to children with thalassemia or sickle cell disease, cancer patients, accident victims, and those injured by violent crime, the demand for safe, reliable blood is constant.

But we face a crucial challenge: our national blood supply relies too heavily on family and replacement donations, and we are simply not collecting enough. That’s why the SISSBDTT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, SEWA TT, the UWI Blood Donor Society, and other NGO partners, is working towards a bold but essential goal.
40,000 voluntary blood donations every year.

This goal is only possible with your help.
When you give blood voluntarily, you’re not just giving someone a chance at life — you’re building a healthier, more secure future for our nation.

Why Blood Donation Matters

One pint of blood can save up to 3 lives.

Blood is vital for surgeries, cancer treatments, managing chronic diseases, and emergency care.

Voluntary blood donations are the safest and most reliable source of blood.

By donating blood without expecting anything in return, you’re giving one of the most powerful gifts a person can give: the gift of life.

What is True Voluntary Blood Donation?

Voluntary blood donation means giving blood freely, regularly, and without compensation — no money, no “blood chit,” and no obligation. It’s about giving life because you care.

Every Drop Counts. Every Donor Matters.

You donate at least twice a year, every year.
You expect nothing in return, only the joy of helping others.
You help build a safer, more reliable national blood supply.
